My name is Roderick MacIver. I've been a fulltime artist and author for thirty years. I moved to Hilton Head from Vermont in early November 2024, and opened the gallery in January 2025.

I founded Heron Dance in 1995 as a newsletter. It grew into a full color art journal published four times a year, and a publisher of books. Over the years I've published fourteen books of my own and several of others.

These days, I just publish my own work. At one time, Heron Dance had thirteen employees and fifty thousand subscribers. It is now just me, solo artist, and my dog Ada. You'll meet her if you want when you visit the gallery. She's very gentle, though a little bit of a princess. Photo below.
